In early 1915 the Hull River Aboriginal Settlement near Mission Beach was established. Although no such settlement was ever set up in Mission Beach, the locals referred to the general area as Mission Beach - the home of the "Mission". And the name stuck.
The area of Mission Beach today is a showcase example of how tourism and pristine sensitive natural enviornments can work hand in hand to bring about something truely unique.
The holiday maker will find shopping villages, restaurants and a seemingly endless supply of tours and activities, all serving to support accommodation venues of every type and style.
